San Beda University scored a third consecutive win over Colegio San Juan de Letran, 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17, on Friday in Season 95 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA) women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Casca Racraquin posted 22 points off 17 kills, three service points and two blocks. Nieza Viray finished with 12 points while Kimberly Manzano contributed nine points, as the Lady Spikers’ win-loss record improved to 3-0.
San Beda blasted Letran with 46 total attacks, matching the feat of second to third placer defending three-time champion Arellano. College of Saint Benilde remains on top of the standings with an unblemished record of 4-0.
Chamberlaine Cunada scored 17 points to lead the Lady Knights. Letran, which suffered 39 errors, dropped to 1-2.
In the other game, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA survived a gruelling five-setter against Mapua University, 20-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-12, 15-6, behind Bianca Tripoli’s impressive performance.
Tripoli led Perpetual with 20 points — all on attacks — while Jhona Rosal added 15 points, including 12 on kills and two service points. Shyra Umandal had 14 points and Dana Persa contributed 13 points also for the Lady Altas.
Mapua’s win-loss record fell to 1-2.
In the men’s side, Jeffrey Losa and Ferdinand Ulibas joined forces down the stretch to help San Beda beat Letran, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20, for a 2-1 win-loss record.
Letran High School outplayed San Beda High School, 25, 20, 25-14, 30-28, to improve its win-loss record to 2-1 in the junior’s side.
